Preserving Family Bonds Act

Fighting to strengthen our families, Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner spoke in favor of her Preserving Family Bonds Act (Assembly Bill A. 2199-A) that passed the state Assembly on June 18, 2019. The legislation makes it possible for courts to allow for post-termination parent contact if a court determines it is in the best interest of the child. Watch the video.

Legislators in New York State are considering passing a bill to ensure that children adopted from foster care can continue to have contact with their parents, even when rights are terminated, if it’s in the child’s best interest.
